Weekend Dim Sum Brunch Buffet: Jiang Nan Chun

Had a leisurely and yummy sunday brunch of dim sum with my mummy a few months ago :)

We were seated in front of the trees outside and this made for a really relaxing meal!

I love the buffet because you can choose how many of each piece (i.e. serving size) you want which makes it good when only one/a few want(s) to have it!

Our view

The setup! Love the chairs!

Double-boiled Morel Mushrooms with Chinese Cabbage and Black Chicken Soup

Very flavourful!

Braised Bird’s Nest with Egg White in Rich Broth

A little bit of bird's nest haha. Cant really taste the egg white. The broth was very thick but super flavourful!

Chilled Sesame Roll

Strong sesame taste!! (Y)

Behind: Steamed Green Beans and Shrimp Dumpling with Parsley
Average!

Front: Steamed Shrimp Dumpling with Tianjin Cabbage
Cant taste the cabbage so don't worry if you don't like veggie.

Steamed Pao with Custard Paste

Could've been saltier the paste! But was q good

Braised Sea Cucumber in Casserole

Could've had a bit more flavour but was good

Steamed Pork Dumpling with Shrimp and Mushrooms
Average!

Stir-fried Phoenix Clam with Asparagus in X.O. Chilli Sauce

Clams weren't very nice, too chewy

Stir-fried Scallops with Sweet and Spicy Sauce

More spicy than sweet the sauce.

Baked Flaky Pastry with Barbecued Chicken Coated with Sesame Seeds

Mom said this was okay, but she's still more used to charsiew being a filling for dim sum! They didn't have char siew sou and this was the closet alternative we could find!

Baked Sea Perch with Sautéed Egg White

Teriyaki glazed. A little dry

Steamed Cod Fillet with Sweet Preserved Vegetables

Loved this so much!!! The cod was just nicely cooked and very fresh! Had many servings of this!

Oven-baked Mini Egg Tart
Crust was a bit too thick.

Pan-fried Pork Belly with Savoury Sauce and Crispy Rice

Mom said the pork was too hard and that the flavours didn't go well together.

Marinated Mini Octopus with Bonito Flakes

Very refreshing and good as appetiser!!

Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling with Mushrooms, Black Fungus, Celery and Bamboo Shoots
Steamed Vegetarian Dumpling with Assorted Mushrooms, Green Beans, Asparagus and Bean Sprouts

Both were average and I'm not sure which is which taste wise + in the photo

Deep-fried Dumpling with Foie Gras, Chicken and Shiitake Mushrooms

Mom said this was quite good

Steamed Lotus Paste Tart

This was what the menu said but didn't expect it to be a pau! Basically very soft fluffy pau with a layer of lotus paste below! Like that its not too sweet :)

Chilled Cream of Mango and Sago with Pomelo

As it should be!

Glutinous Rice Dumpling filled with Black Sesame Paste

Fragrant + yummy filling! Ratio is quite good

Chilled Aloe Vera with Lemongrass Jelly

A bit sweet for me

Puff Pastry with Cod and Onion in Miso Sauce

Mom said its a bit weird to have cod in the pastry cos it doesn't go well together

Overall dishes are quite good quality, variety is quite big actually! It was only Mom and I so couldn't really order a lot! Ambience v good. Service is okay, acceptable. Would go back again for the price and the food!
